Maintain optimal situational awareness for membership regarding the status and conditions throughout the GIWW to facilitate safe and efficient cargo movements minimizing supply chain impacts
Maintain and implement the Gulf Inland Waterways Joint Hurricane Response Protocol optimizing interagency and whole of government response operations during tropical weather events facilitating rapid maritime transportation system recovery post-storm
Advocate for GIWW improvements with key stakeholders including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Coast Guard, and various state departments of transportation
Ensure coastal protection and restoration initiatives and both commercial and private expansion along the GIWW consider the needs of the navigation industry during initial project development
Inform and educate the public regarding the value and importance of the GIWW and supporting Inland Waterways
The 119th Annual Gulf Intracoastal Canal Association (GICA) Seminar
took place from August 7 – 9, 2024
at the
Westin Hotel
in downtown New Orleans.
We are excited about the upcoming 120th seminar in the summer of 2025
